The Master Plumbers Association has a strong governance model.

Board

The Association's Board is elected from the National Council which is made up of members from across the divisions.

Scott Dowsett: President

Scott has over 21 years experience in the commercial plumbing industry and has been a member of the Association since 1997. He is Director of Cooke & Dowsett Pty Ltd, a national commercial plumbing company that currently employs over 380 full time employees. He has been a Committee member of the Construction Division since 2006 and is the division's Chairman. Scott also represents the Construction Division on the National Council.

Michael Ball: Hon Treasurer

Michael received Life Membership to Master Plumbers for his contribution to the Association and industry. He is on the Board of Construction Industry Long Service Leave Fund for Victoria (CoInvest) having been endorsed in 2001 as the director to represent building trades employers on the board.

Kevin Shinners: Board Member

Kevin's company, JP Shinners & Sons, has been a Master Plumbers member since 1953. In 2002, Kevin was presented with the Hygieia Award for outstanding voluntary services for the development of the plumbing industry and in particular, recognition of his dedicated involvement in pursuing improvements in apprentice training for the industry. In 2003, Kevin was nominated to represent the Association on a committee headed by the CSIRO for Blue Green Water – remedial treatments.

Grant Donald: Board Member

 

Peter Jensen: Board Member

Peter is chairman of the Master Plumbers Service Industry Division. He is managing director of Worboys Plumbing which has been a member company of the Association over 70 years. In 2005 Worboys won the GreenPlumbers Domestic Project of the Year award.

Norm Anderson: Board Member

Norm has over 30 years’ experience in the Commercial plumbing Industry and is the Director of NSG Plumbing Pty Ltd a Melbourne based company offering Contract & Maintenance, Design and construct services.

NSG Plumbing currently employs 70 full time employees. Norm is an active member of the Construction Division and is a representative of the National Council.

 

Greg Tink: Board Member

Greg has over 30 years experience both as a contractor and an educator. He has delivered over 15,000 hours of theory, practical and technical training across the preapprenticeship, apprenticeship and post-apprenticeship programs at RMIT University. Greg has contributed to a number of industry handbooks, reports and training programs, including over a decade of involvement in devleoping and delivering Green Plumber training. He has also designed and managed the installation of various leading edge work stations at PICAC.



Executive team

The Association's Executive team works to ensure the delivery of services to members and is responsible for the representation of member issues to external bodies and regulators.

Ken Gardner: CEO

Ken is well-known and highly respected throughout the plumbing, gasfitting and energy industries. His proven record as a Chief Executive spans over 12 years and covers the Office of Gas Safety and the Office of the Chief Electrical Inspector which he combined to form Energy Safe Victoria.

Ken's experience covers interaction with all levels of Government, Industry, Unions and plumbing businesses. He has spent eight years on the Plumbing Industry Commission and has also had a key role in National Licensing, Energy Leaders Group, Electrical Regulator's Group and has been Chairman of the Gas Technical Regulators Committee.

Bryan Smith: General Manager Group Training and Corporate Services

Bryan oversees the Membership Services team and is responsible for the performance of relevant services and benefits to members.

This includes supporting the divisional structure of the Association, developing new commercial benefits for members and increasing the Association's membership base. He also manages the Association's corporate services.

Alexandra Mannell: General Manager Membership and Industry Development

Alex has a strong educational background and significant experience with training development in the plumbing and construction sectors and joined the Association in February 2010.

In her role as General Manager Industry Development, Alex oversees training, including the expansion of courses offered to members and industry and the recent redevelopment and relaunch of the highly successful Course in Green Plumber Environmental Solutions.

John Clarke: General Manager Group Training Scheme

John joined the Association following 32 years in electrical contracting, project management, estimating, training and safety.

As General Manager Group Training Scheme, John oversees the Group Training division and manages the operation and administration of the scheme in both Victoria and Queensland.

The Master Plumbers Group Training Scheme has been providing the industry with highly skilled apprentices for over 30 years and currently employs over 150 plumbing apprentices.
