The National
Construction Code Series will eventually include all on-site construction
regulation (building, plumbing, electrical and telecommunications).
The National
Plumbing Regulatory Forum (NPRF) and the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB)
are working together to deliver a consolidated building and plumbing code in
2011.
The National
Construction Code Series will eventually include all on-site construction regulation
(building, plumbing, electrical and telecommunications).
The draft
2011 Plumbing Provisions is based on the Plumbing Code of Australia 2004 and
includes minor editorial and technical changes to improve consistency between
building and plumbing provisions.
It is
expected that a consolidated national document that includes building and
plumbing could deliver benefits and cost savings through:
- efficiency
gains from removing overlap and inconsistency between codes;
- gains
through an improved regulatory framework for plumbing standards, from more
consistent adoption of performance-based standards and use of impact
analysis;
- greater
opportunities for innovation with a more consistent code; and
- broader
benefits from complementing other reform initiatives, such as national
licensing and reforms in the training sector.
The draft
Plumbing Provisions are now available for review and your feedback is sought by
MPMSAA.
