Communications and Media Specialist

Reporting to the CEO you will collaborate with a dedicated team of passionate industry, membership and event specialists to develop, deliver and measure end-to-end integrated media, communications and marketing plans. In this role you will engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders through digital and traditional channels which will most effectively reach the intended audience and deliver results.

The Responsibilities

This is a new role with scope to make it your own. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide media liaison and communication support for the CEO, President and Board including media releases, articles, annual reports, government relations and industry advocacy.
  • Lead the development, implementation and review of integrated media, communications and marketing strategies to promote and advance the work of the organisation and support the membership, commercial, training and employee-scheme teams.
  • Collaborate with the wider Master Plumbers team to ensure the industry has the best channels and information available to inform, advocate and promote.
  • Develop a clear members’ communications strategy to enable the organisation to offer value and ensure responsive provision of information to members and the community.
  • Build effective relationships with peers in stakeholder organisations nationally to deliver shared/cooperative communications initiatives and programs.
  • Develop content and engage with a portfolio of digital and traditional communication channels to broaden audiences and drive engagement with industry, stakeholders and partners.
  • Responsibility for Master Plumbers’ key communication assets including the industry website, digital newsletter, social media and flagship industry magazine.

The Person

You are exceptionally curious, organised and adaptable and thrive in a collaborative and service-oriented environment. Naturally you have excellent written, editing, presentation and communication skills, and have a strong interest in the use of digital technologies to engage your audience.

You’re a strategic thinker who can manage multiple projects, leading by example showing initiative, collaboration and also working autonomously when needed.

Experience with WordPress and Indesign would be an advantage and you can demonstrate use of analytics to prove ROI and direct future improvements. You may have had some exposure to membership organisations or trades, but it’s enough that you are able to quickly understand complex industries and you get excited about engaging communities and members in an organisation.
