The Association is seeking to appoint a Payroll Officer to support its Group Training Scheme. This role is responsible for ensuring apprentice timesheets are processed accurately and in a timely manner to enable the weekly payroll to be processed. The role is also responsible for invoicing clients after each payroll and for maintaining information in the Association's payroll/management system. The successful applicant will also support the broader Group Training Scheme administration including liaising with Registered Training Organisations and Apprenticeship support services
A crucial part of this role is to respond to the needs of the various stakeholder groups in a positive and proactive manner. These groups include the apprentices, host employers, Group Training staff and the broader organisation. The Payroll Officer also provides support across the Association ensuring the delivery of high quality service to our Members.
This role requires the incumbent to have a flexible but firm manner. Whilst trying to maintain standardised processes and timing, the person must balance the commercial need to pay apprentices to be able to invoice clients promptly. The successful applicant is likely to have had experience working with, and interpreting awards and enterprise agreements as our apprentices are covered by multiple agreements and individual apprentices may move between the agreements, sometimes within one payroll week
Applicants for this role must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to enable them to interact with all of the stakeholders. As part of a small team the Payroll Officer will need to respond to ad hoc requests, balancing these requests with routine work. An outstanding attention to detail is required along with an ability to plan work activities and meet competing deadlines. A flexible approach is also required to handle the constantly changing environment.
